Artist Statement
Since I’ve been started to my art career, I’ve been used many different mediums in my art. Sometimes a glaze that prepared with lead helped me to express myself, sometimes basically watercolors or oil paints. The background of my works mostly have been about justice, politics, history, literature and philosophy. I use the animals and their characters, cultural meanings or specialities to relate them with the situations and people that we know. I used to work on the portraits and figures. I mind my own growth and can’t stop myself recording my life and thoughts by the works of my art.
Time, Glazed Porcelain, 2013
Golden proportion is known to be used in architectural structures in Ancient Greece, and it is also known to be in the whole body of mankind, and in all over nature. Snail shell and golden proportion spiral are the new representatives of the 'time' concept which was represented by the 'circle' form in the old days. The snail shell, a 'golden proportion spiral', which has been recognized as a continually rotating and repeating 'time' with the development of science, widening with the ever-expanding universe in three dimensions, has become a new form of 'time'. This work was produced with reference to snail shell as an organic structure. The small forms at the corners of the main form are associated with the fractal subject in the field of mathematics. Fractals are a common name for complex geometric shapes that often show the resemblance to itself. In the expanding location of the 'time' represented by the snail shell, the past and the future are questioned. As a 'human', our common point with other living beings is to wonder about the existence of a 'time rate' perception with a 'golden proportion'. In the work, that is done by bringing each separate units together with golden proportion rectangular measure, deformations occur in the upper regions. With the meaning in the context of mathematics is distorted and interfered with the form similarity, the bond between the fractals is broken. Fractals do not reflect the feature of deformed form. The study was produced by pattern producing technique and porcelain clay was used in the study. After the application of transparent glaze, sooty firing technique was used in some part.
Guiding Line of Time, Glazed Earthenware, 2013
It was produced with reference to the horn form which is an organic structure. In past civilizations,
horns belonging to various animals had various meanings. Some of those; Power, masculinity,
potency, fertility, fruitfulness, heroism. The horns, which had many different representations, have a
predominantly 'male-dominated' structure. In this study, which is based on horn and spine meanings,
reference is made to ‘men's language' and 'male power' which are still going on when it comes to
contemporary times. This language and the presence of this power are questioned. It is being
questioned whether this spine is only meaning to 'standing up right’; or it belongs to a creature whose
time has already been wiped out; or an x-ray image of the body still showing its vitality. It was
produced in large numbers, and a 'spine' was created. In the study, earthenware which is frequently seen in
old ceramic finds was used as casting mud and terra sigillata was applied. It was fired with sooty
firing. The work was exhibited with purple silk fabric representing richness, nobility and political power.

The study is an attempt to build a bridge between traditional and modern. In the study Mondrian's
image was placed in the background and its colors were interpreted with colors dominating traditional
Turkish arts. In the foreground, the traditional figure chosen from the tiles in Kubadabad Palace was
reinterpreted. In production, underglaze painting technique, sigrafitto technique were applied.

Storks Bring Justice, Glazed Ceramic, 2015
'Justice' is a concept that continues today and is still valid today. With its descriptions, the concept
has been frequently assessed and organized by philosophers, artists and politicians since the existence of people. 'Justice' and its search were born from the first injustice that was done. And people have put
rules in order not to be unfair and to suffer injustice. There are evaluations from the voice of history
about the regulation of justice, with humankind’s search for a leader, these evaluations are people’s
voluntary or mandatory responsibilities. Nevertheless, it is like the scream of Euripides, with the words "You are doing the law for wealth of the rich". Stork is the carrier of justice in Egyptian
mythology. Designed in the familiar world history; airplanes that serve different purposes such as war, transport and control have been designed with reference to the form of birds. Violence that a bird
cannot carry, justice that a louse cannot carry; were carried by flying B-17 type heavy bomber used in Hitler’s defeat and others designed to serve war. B-52 is one of them. It is the grandson of B-17 type plane. This American-made aircraft has been carrying justice to various parts of the world for a long
time. It showed itself in the Gulf War and the US operation in Afghanistan, in the US-Iraq war, it flew
to bring justice, democracy and freedom but when the world reacted it came back. Justice, which has
been updated but never changed, has been questioned about what kind of justice and freedom it brings to people. This work, which is associated with B-52 type heavy bomber aircraft and stork, was
produced ceramic material. The production was made with 45% white chamois clay and glazed with a
fluid dark blue glaze. The production was made on the basis of this aircraft model, and it was manually shaped. The bases of this work were created by artists and works such as ‘Republic’ of Plato, ‘The Nicomachean Ethics’ of Aristotle, ‘Der Prozeß’ of Kafka, ‘The Wall’ of Pink Floyd, Tom Stoppard.

Untitled, 150 x 50 x 50 cm, Ceramic, 2015
Crowded cities, new buildings rising at any moment, and rising buildings. Once upon a time, long before I was born, we were the ones who came to city. But I don’t have a homeland. I love every
homeland, every green, every blue. The cities grew up as we came, along with needs and the areas of human for sheltering… I remember these places that were once more deserted, also the common living
areas that are much more delicacy than their desolation... Is this city culture? I don’t know. We are the children of new generation. All I see today is the bricks that are merely rusty iron bars and bricks that have been stacked on top of each other and deserve to be a city with tons of make-up outside, despite
the constructions they have made with nature most naturally. Far from essence, tired of crowds. The number of people that I do not know, the trash we produce and the people who are stowed in the
apartments again... I cannot help myself to think that the cities we build today are vomiting our crowd, rudeness and want to throw us out with a bowel movement.”
Chamotte clay was used in the ceramic sculptures produced with these thoughts. Sculptures that is without glaze and lined only with clays in different colors, are designed by deformation of two basic units of building, brick and construction demolition forms. Chamotte clay, which is preferred due to its rough and imperfect surface, easy accessibility and proximity to the public, is evolved into brick and iron by applying linings in different colors. The reason why glaze is not preferred is the fact that it is completely away from perfection, it can occur from its own existence and in other words it can’t be suppressed.

Transformation, 75 x 25 x 25 cm, Glazed Ceramic, Collected Stones and Sands, Glass, Sea Water, 2016
It is the continuation of ‘Untitled 2015’. The study questions urban regeneration in Turkey,
especially in metropolises, under the control of power. In the rapidly changing, transforming settlements that have cut off their ties with the old, the study is trying to put together the tracks –
memories that disappear together with the destroyed buildings. The wastes that have been thrown into the sea, along with the destroyed buildings, are reminiscent of the traces of habits and experiences of
the past. It has been reinterpreted with the red clay and the objects found in the sea, which have been cut off from the life of the sea and made into a spectacle object. Surrendering to the fragility of the
ceramic material, in the study, the new brick as a spectacle object was left to the transforming power of nature. Since July 2016, it is waiting in the water of city in an illuminated environment and life which occurs inside is observed.

Republic, Glazed Ceramic, 2016.
In the work of Plato; ‘Republic’, Plato describes the formation of the state and management forms
of government. The 'Republic', which forms the basis of a few of my earlier work, has been one of the main books of many politicians throughout the history. There are numerous articles written on this book, which is regarded as very valuable by philosophers. The fact that it is repeatedly read and
applied, makes the book very important. In the book, information about what a good manager should be like can be read, while at the same time the information of the tyranny can be read. So 'Republic' is
a magical book that changes color depending on the purpose of the reader. 'Republic' which is blended in personal experiences and the cultural footsteps of the homeland, with these two different views, the contents and the text are arranged without changing while it is read again. The work covers were reinterpreted with ceramic material. The work has been added to history with the description of the
traces left on ceramic materials since ancient times.

language’s explicit use of parser and its transformation to a vehicle that drifts the masses are being

can’t do anything. All I want is to be loved. But there’s only pain
and uncertain future.

Spirit Of The Nature, 70 × 100 × 1.8 cm, oil on canvas, 2019
I felt the “Spirit of the Nature” that we all know already deep in ourselves in my first oil painting on canvas which I expressed the nature of the European landscapes and its elements which belong to western art. With triptych because of being my first and the being a base of for the others.
The Colors of a Distant Land, 70 × 100 × 1.8 cm, oil on canvas, 2019
This is second painting of a triptych. I have dreamed of expressing my own world of colours more resolutely and freely, the landscape that I have discovered working on the “Spirit of the Nature”.
It was the exact time that i closed my eyes while exactly in the heart of London, and while experiencing the colourful spring of London, that is pregnant of new feelings every single moment.
The spring takes its colour from Judas trees in Istanbul. Suddenly purifies the 7 hills from the blues of the winter. This is one of the most precious spring gifts to Istanbul. It is inconceivable not think of it as a ‘festival’ that cuddling with all varieties of blues of Bosphorus.
My heart carried the colours of blues, love, spring and existence to European lands with Chopin’s notas. There are the moments that the forms confined with just being ‘descriptive’ in density of feelings. “The Colours of a Distant Land” has allowed me to express all those feelings.
